We believe that the Christian life is a call to service. We stress that Christ's call to serve our neighbors, especially the "least of the brethren", applies to every Christian. We also believe that as a congregation we need to direct our time, talent and financial gifts to projects and programs aimed at helping others. A few of the opportunities for service which Wycliffe is supporting are:
Wycliffe works with Virginia Beach Social Services to provide food to those in need.
Meals on Wheels
We participate in this worthwhile program to deliver food to shut-ins. Every 3rd Wed, Thurs & Friday of each month.
Infant Stimulation Program
A very important city sponsored program for developmentally delayed infants has its home at Wycliffe's A-Frame, which is on the other side of the pond and was our original sanctuary.
We sponsor a twice-yearly Red Cross blood drive that is held in the fellowship hall.
Meeting space is provided for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
Faith Works Coalition
Some of our members volunteer their time and talents to this program that repairs housing for persons with low income.
Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets
Food and gifts are provided for several homeless families. In addition, we provide supplemental food baskets to homeless children, who might not have regular meals during Christmas school break.
We host a party for the families including a good meal and a visit from Santa Claus. We also assist the families by providing bus passes, taxi fares, and gas cards.
St. Columba Homeless Shelter
Once a month we deliver 150 freshly made sandwiches to this organization, along with detergent, paper bags, and clothing.
Sandwich Making Ministry - First Thursday of the month (10am) for St. Columba’s shelter.
The church financially supports additional outreach projects through its Endowment Committee.
